Rachel Files Reply Comments to the FCC on Behalf of musicFIRST and Future of Music Coalition on Local AM/FM Radio Station Ownership Rules

On behalf of the musicFIRST Coalition ("mF") and the Future of Music Coalition ("FMC"), on October 1, Rachel filed Reply Comments to the Federal Communications Commission, refuting the National Association of Broadcasters' dubious claims that it would be in the public interest for the FCC to allow further deregulation of AM/FM radio stations at local market levels.  

In her Reply Comment, Rachel explains how the NAB purports to speak on behalf of the entire AM/FM radio industry, while it actually advocates on behalf of those few media conglomerates who have both the desire and capital with which to purchase large numbers of FM stations-- and then reduce local programming and staff. Rachel Stilwell Named to Billboard Magazine’s 2021 Top Music Lawyers List

Billboard Magazine has named Rachel Stilwell, founder of Stilwell Law, to its 2021 Top Music Lawyers list.   This is the third year in a row that Rachel has been included on this prestigious roster. Billboard's 2021 Top Music Lawyers ist honors prominent music attorneys from throughout the U.S.  Stilwell is among only a handful of attorneys from small law firms named to this year's list. Billboard recognized Stilwell for, among other accomplishments, representing dual music coalitions musicFIRST and Future of Music before the Federal Communications Commission in that agency's review of competition among audio delivery platforms. Music Coalitions: More Deregulation of AM/FM Radio Ownership Would Harm Music Creators, Listeners & Small Broadcasters

On behalf of the musicFIRST Coalition and the Future of Music Coalition, Rachel penned and filed Reply Comments to the Federal Communications Commission, arguing that the FCC should not further deregulate AM/FM radio at local market levels.  Citing salient arguments by independent broadcasters, minority broadcast owners, public interest watchdog groups, and over 1400 individual radio listeners who filed comments to the FCC,  musicFIRST and Future of Music argue that it is crucial to the public interest that the FCC not allow further consolidation of AM/FM radio at local market levels. Read the filing here....
